Here at YPP, we are always challenging ourselves to raise awareness and donations for charities which are close to our hearts.
As a company we recently ventured in raising money for one of our charity partners, The Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, who support children and adults born with congenital heart disease across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. All donations received, help to support families, discover ground-breaking technology and help to make the whole situation easier for anyone involved.
At eight days post Abseil, team YPP have finally got over the fear and excitement of Sunday and are putting their heads together to plan their next charity challenge! If you follow us across social media, you will have probably spotted our posts over the past week or so, including some terrifying footage of the 100ft abseil.
100ft up, knees were quivering but team spirit was the overriding emotion. Khizer and Naomi from our maintenance team took the plunge first, with Khizer taking to it like a duck to water. A few Spiderman style jumps later, the first two touched down on solid ground. Tasha and Sarah were up next, a few squeals and what felt like a lifetime later, they also got down safely. Raj tackled the descent alone, taking it all in his stride and was followed shortly after by Effie and Christina who after a little encouragement made it look like second nature.
You may be asking yourselves – why would you sign up for something like this? The amazing work that we have seen first-hand on the ward and the support given to patients and families has inspired us to do some serious fundraising across the year, and it wouldn’t quite be as challenging unless your stomach was in your mouth whilst doing it, right?
We are currently at a whopping £1300 on our team sponsorship page, which will remain open until 22nd July. If you would like make a donation to this amazing charity, please follow the link here: http://bit.ly/2IDtO1W . We speak on behalf of the charity when we say that every little counts and that each and every donation is hugely appreciated. Keep an eye out across our social media channels and our blog to stay updated with our fundraising progress!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Children’s Heart Surgery Fund for allowing our staff members to embark upon this exciting achievement and we would like to also reach out to the individuals who took part in this awesome event which helped raise a large amount of money for children requiring life-threatening heart surgery – thank you for your participation.
