The buildings, located on South Parade and Wade Lane, will provide 34 and 65 self-contained apartments respectively. Number 5 South Parade and the recently renamed Havana Residence, formerly Zicon House, were both previously used as office space, with the building on South Parade standing empty for a number of years.
These exciting new developments add to the Company’s growing portfolio of high-quality residential developments in Yorkshire including Q Residence, Park Square and Crown Residence in Leeds, and Piccadilly Residence in York.
Abdulaziz Al-Nujaifi, Managing Director of YPP said of the developments, “Number 5 South Parade and Havana Residence both provide prime locations for residential buildings, serving professionals in the city centre, and students at city colleges and universities. In particular, we hope Havana Residence will add to the regeneration of the Leeds Arena Quarter, led by the schemes at the former Merrion Hotel site and Merrion House.”
Ken Earl, Director of Box Architects said, “Box architects are delighted to both continue & strengthen our relationship with market leading client YPP through our involvement in both South Parade and Havana Residence, having previously successfully completed numerous projects with YPP in Leeds, York, Harrogate and London. The conversion of redundant office space into strategically located residential properties, through permitted development planning rights, is proving critical to the successful provision of much needed high end city centre residential properties. South Parade and Havana Residence will provide a further 99 exceptional city centre apartments.”
In addition to the two Leeds-based projects, YPP also has a further residential development, Fossgate House, underway on the ancient Fossgate street in the heart of York. This smaller-scale development will complement the Company’s existing buildings in the region; Piccadilly Residence and George House, both of which opened their doors this year.
The apartments in York and Leeds are due for completion in Summer 2017.
